My Calm Mix

Questions

Everything about the mixer, in short.

Is My Calm Mix free?

Yes. No account, no ads, no subscription.

Are the sounds recordings?

No. Every sound is synthesized in real time by your browser (Web Audio). That keeps the app very light, the loops never repeat exactly, and it works offline. Some sounds, like animals, are stylised rather than realistic.

Why does the sound only start after a tap?

Browsers block audio until you interact with the page. One tap on Play or on any sound is enough.

How many sounds can I play at once?

Up to 8 layers. Each family (Rain, Waves, Bowls…) plays one variant at a time, so you can switch between three rains without stacking them.

Does it keep playing when my phone is locked?

Usually yes, on Android and on recent iPhones. Some phones pause web audio when the screen locks or when another app takes the audio. Installing the app on your home screen helps.

How do I install it on my phone?

iPhone: open the site in Safari, tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”. Android: open the menu in Chrome and choose “Install app” (or use the Install button at the top of the mixer).

Does it work offline?

Yes. After the first visit, the app is stored on your device. Nothing needs to download because the sounds are generated, not streamed.

How does the sleep timer work?

Choose 15, 30, 60 or 90 minutes. The volume lowers slowly over the last minutes, then the sound stops.

What is the focus timer?

A Pomodoro-style timer: work for 25 minutes, rest for 5 (or 50/10, 90/15). A soft bell marks each change and your mix keeps playing.

What does the “Soft” slider do?

It gently removes high frequencies from the whole mix, for a warmer, darker sound. Useful at night.

How do I share a mix?

Tap Share. The link contains your sounds and volumes, so whoever opens it hears the same mix.

Where are my saved mixes?

Only on your device, in your browser storage. Clearing your browser data deletes them. Nothing is sent to a server.

White, pink or brown noise: which one?

White noise is bright, like a fan or TV static. Pink noise is softer, like steady rain. Brown noise is deep, like a distant waterfall. Many people prefer pink or brown for sleep.

Is it safe for babies?

Keep the volume low and the device far from the cot, and use the sleep timer. See Why it works for the research.

Headphones or speakers?

Both work. Headphones give a wider stereo image; speakers are better for sleep. Keep the volume moderate.
